Office Makeup Tips

Office makeup should be such that it does not create any hindrance in your job. It should be subtle and soft. While applying makeup for office, make sure that you should look natural. Applying office makeup is something tricky and needs proper skill. This does not mean that you should look dull and boring.
You should look great, attractive. At the same time, you should also look confident and make out maximum of your positive personality. While applying makeup for office, you should not forget that you are not getting ready for an evening party.  What looks good in the bathroom mirror may look sick in fluorescent lights of office.

Colors And Shades

All the colors and shades do not complement office environment. Some of the colors, which you can safely include in makeup palette of your makeup kit, are warm earthy tones of eyeshadow, brown and black mascara and eyeliner, warm tone foundation and blush of light colors like rose or peach and medium toned lipsticks. Office makeup is done in the morning and it should be such that it looks fresh all the day. You should need just little touching up for the makeup during the day.

Preparing Base For Office Makeup

First thing you should do before applying any makeup for office is to cleanse face properly. After that use toner or astringent to clean away any leftovers of cleanser as it may block pores. Then apply moisturizer. This cleansing, toning and moisturizing routine is very important for you to keep your skin supple and soft. A healthy skin is prerequisite for any makeup. If your face is clean and free from any blemishes, you can avoid applying foundation.  Foundation may look spotty and unnatural in thefluorescent lights of the office. In place of this, you can use concealer to cover any spot but make sure to blend it completely.

Cheek Makeup For Office

Try to use warm, earthy gold tones for the cheek makeup to look natural in fluorescent lights. Pink shades are not for office makeup, as your skin tone would look muddy. Women with dark skin tone should use browns, terracotta and maroon shades.

Eye Makeup For Office

As far as eye makeup is concerned, you should use light eyeshadow colors as dark colors are reserved for nights only. Makeup in office lights look harsh and garish if not applied carefully. It tends to expose some minor details, which you generally do not notice while wearing makeup. Choose light shadow colors like gold, peach, rose etc. Also avoid dull colors like gray or blue. You can use brown eyeliner and brown mascara instead of black to look natural. But black eyeliner or mascara is not a taboo; you can use that too or mix of both colors.

Lip Makeup For Office

You should choose medium tones of lipstick such as brown, mochas or peach shades. You can apply lip-gloss too.  You should completely avoid shimmer shades on lips. Also avoid those tones like beige, taupe or earthy tones that look muddy in office lights.  If you are wearing heavy eye makeup, you can keep lips nude to look natural in work environment of office.

Some Tips For Applying Office Makeup In Seconds

You are going to an important presentation at client’s place after lunch and you do not have time to do makeup and refresh your looks. No problem, there are some tips to get ready in minutes.
  • Apply compact powder on your face and blend it carefully. It will take only few seconds. Surely, you won’t be having eyeshadow in your handbag, but kohl pencil is there. Make a neat line over the upper eyelid and smudge it a little to soften it and give it a smoky eye effect. Then apply mascara, which will open up your eyes.
  • After this comes the turn of blusher. You should apply light shade of blush on your cheeks, forehead and chin. If you do not have it with you, take out your lipstick and put a dot on apple of your cheeks and merge it completely with your skin tone but carefully in the direction of your hairline along the cheekbone.
  • For lipstick, lip liner is a good tool to keep lipstick in place but if you do not have it, apply lipstick once and then press tissue between your lips and the reapply it. It will last longer this way and you won’t leave any mark on the glass too.
